A new exciting phase in our vision of 'being community - in the community'

We are proposing a large multi-use community/commercial development in the Sandy Lane area of Bradford. The existing main road site, currently trading as an MOT Station, (with the rest of the site unused), will be redeveloped using the existing buildings, to provide:

Ground Floor

High-Class Tea Rooms with take-away.

Conference Room

Children's Play Barn, with quality Cafeteria.

Pre-School/Crèche Facility.

First Floor (via exterior staircase)

Re-furbished luxury 2 bed apartment.

General Office.

Office/Workspace.

Activities on the site, beyond the above commercial ones, are planned to include:

Using the conference room for community & church-based activities, day and evening.

Using the cafeteria area of the play barn in the evening as a designated youth base.

Using the Tea Rooms for church-based events in the evening.

There is currently on-site parking for approx. 20 vehicles, with un-restricted on-street parking adjacent to the site. The total floor space is approx. 7,300 sq ft, on a site of approx. 0.4 acre.

The overall vision is to provide a ministry base which is secured by high-class revenue-producing commercial activities. Each of the areas of activity have been extensively researched, and each will have a unique quality not currently available locally and, in the case of the Play Barn, a totally new concept.

We now have preliminary architects drawings, have applied for a pre-planning advice meeting with BMDC Planning Department, and are in touch with Kingdom Bank regarding finance.

WE NEED:

* A deposit of £80,000 to secure the initial loan of £425,000 to purchase the buildings/site.

* A person experienced in Children/Youth to oversee both commercial and Church activities.

* A qualified Chef to manage the various food elements of the project.

* A Project Director capable of overseeing the whole site’s activities and ministries.

N.B. We envisage all the above posts would be fully paid, at the going commercial rate.

Please pray with us for this miracle to take place. We have distributed to others far more than the £80,000 we need for the deposit, so we are trusing God to fulfil His promise in Luke 6:38, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Sunday 2nd November

Drop-In & Chill-Out

Everey six weeks or so we change our Sunday Morning format, and provide different activities to the usual, all based around the theme for the day. This week it was 'Baggage' - the stuff from our past that we still carry around with us, such hurts, disappointments, and failures.

As well as having a great fun time, we were able to help a number of people who came that day to deal with some of their 'baggage' issues, once and for all. We concluded with the opportunity to pick up a piece of baggage used in the game, bring it to the front of the hall, and leave it at the foot of the Cross. Many were physically moved by this demonstration of faith and it was a very powerful symbol of what Jesus can and will do for everyone who responds to Him in faith.

Who's is all this baggage?

The game was a simple one - throw a six, and then collect an item of baggage from the carousel. Throw a one, and go find your 'lost' baggage in an adjoining room.

"Run quick, but don't fall off the carousel"

Sometimes you need someone else to help carry all your heavy baggage!

Sunday 21st September

Drop-In & Chill-Out

The men get to grips with adding the 'correct' ingredients

The theme of the day was:

"The result you get depends on the ingredients you put in"

Adam Carver

"What is Faith?"

Bullet points from Adam's message are set out below. The full text is available by contacting ccfoffice@blueyonder.co.uk

1. Faith depends on its object. (Acts 16:31)

We all live by faith. The issue is what you believe or who believe in.

2. The depth of your faith depends on the depth of your knowledge of the object. (Rom. 10:17)

Faith is very simple. You either choose to believe what God says and is, or you don't.

3. Faith is an action word. (Matthew 7:24-27)

Only as we do the Word is our house built upon a rock.

Definition: trust, assurance, confidence in another and another's word"

Faith v. Hope (Hebrews 11:1)

Faith is a confidence something will happen. Hope is a desire for something to happen.

  • As a Christian believer, you have a measure of faith that is a gift from God, therefore the issue is not about you having faith but about you growing that faith. (Romans 12:3)
  • Faith is seeing, acting and speaking as God sees, acts and speaks.

Worship Together - 31 August 2008

On Sunday 31st August the congregations of Cedar Tree Church, Chellow Christian Fellowship and Christian Life Church, Shipley joined together for worship.
This second joint celebration took place at Heaton Primary School, the home of Chellow Christian Fellowship. More than 120 adults and children moved as one body in Spirit-led worship and received an anointed Word from Pastor Paul Hubbard, who functions as Apostle to all three congregations.
Pastor Paul spoke on 2 Timothy 2:3-7, introducing the message with a discussion around the amount of hard work necessary to achieve an Olympic Gold medal.
Paul then contrasted this with the Truth that we don't need to work hard to receive God's love, though we do need to work hard in the Kingdom of God. He commented that we "Don't work to earn, we work to learn" - about ourselves and about God's abundant grace.  However, even that hard work should come from a place of 'rest'. A place of knowing who we are in Christ, and who He is in us, that allows us to enjoy our work, a blessing that brings rewards, not a curse that brings demands.

The next Worship Together is on 30th November at Cedar Tree, Tyersal.
